Crucial Questions for Your Campaign Success

I know we're in prime spooky season, Reader, but I saw something the other day that really terrified me...

It wasn't ghosts or goblins. 👻No witches or monsters.🧙 Not even my grocery bill...

It was an ad targeted at nonprofits.

This ad claimed that, with their "original solution," you could copy and paste what they provided and "never have to hire a copywriter again" as long as you use their template and fill the rest in with AI.

Sounds like a dream, right?

Yeah, anyone would want something that simple. But that's actually the problem.

A copy-and-paste template is NOT guaranteed to connect with your ideal donor. Not without clarity. Templates aren't supposed to be a one-size-fits-all solution. They're meant to guide your messaging in a way that leads your prospects through the donor journey.

AI (or templates) can't do that for you if you're not sure:

  1. Who are you talking to?
  2. What motivates them to partner with your mission?
  3. Which obstacles do they need to overcome to become ambassadors for your mission?

If you don't have the clarity to prompt AI or fill in the blanks of a template, it's not going to work for you.

I get worked up when I see ads like these because it can be hard to know who to trust in the online space. Hell, it's starting to feel hard to trust our own reality right now. None of you needs BS ads when you're just trying to move your mission forward in the most efficient way possible.

So I'll challenge you with something that's actually actionable: Answer the 3 questions above. Write them down. Consult your brand messaging guidelines and values. Take 5 minutes to meditate on it if you need to.

Then ➡️ Create your marketing materials for your Giving Tuesday or EOY campaign.

This clarity makes all the difference, no matter if it's you or AI or a template or a copywriter (to which I am incredibly biased, hehe) writing it.

I just want you to sort through the BS and have something tangible to show for it at the end of the year (see: fully funded). We all need more good news, and you deserve to have your 2025 goals met.
